Indie bookstores and indie publishers join forces to bring their favorite backlist titles to renewed prominence. An indie collaboration facilitated by IPC and the ABA. Booksellers get guaranteed publisher support to promote their favorite backlist titles in-store. An opportunity for publishers to re-ignite sales of their key backlist titles in the indie channel.
Nominate now! Nominate your 'Backlisted but not Forgotten' titles by March 14.
IPC members nominate one backlist title (preferably one that after initial success in the indie channel as a frontlist title, is now underperforming as a backlist title and has real potential for renewed sales at independent bookstores)
Nominated title must be accompanied by at least one bookseller blurb and must have a minimum of 600 copies in stock as of the start of the promotional period
If a publisher’s nominated title is selected for the promo, publisher agrees to pay a $430 marketing fee
The titles with the highest number of votes will be the initiative’s focus titles for the semester
How titles will be promoted:
Titles will be announced in Bookselling This Week and included as a special standalone section of the IndieNext brochure
Member stores will receive a list of titles in the March red box mailing and via announcement on BTW
Publishers of nominated titles are encouraged to promote their title in their outreach and media campaigns and to incentivize ordering in other ways.
